Camp Arcadia! My daughters are there now! I loved your entry plan–‘tho it might be a bit ambitious. Perhaps you can accomplish more if you declare at least one day a week a no office day? Good luck!!

I am sure your daughters are enjoying their time there as much as I did mine – small world huh? I love the idea of No Office Days – my goal is one a month, at least for now!

The Invisible Backpack is a wonderful analogy. There can be unease when staff meet a new Principal for the first time. The story of the Invisible Backpack you learnt from camp days would have put a smile on my face and eased any tension. The action plan is well prepared. Hope you enjoy Helen Keller Elementary.

Your plan is quite thorough! It has a laser-like focus on your current stakeholders: staff, students, and parents. In Maine, does your central office staff handle more of the “community” dealings? The school is one part of our local communities, but yet because it is often one of our biggest local employers the taxpayers are always conscious of “how” their money is being spent. Being both visible and approachable is something that the “locals” appreciate and value!

I think your plan is well thought out as you have a clear focus. I have left you a few notes in purple on your doc. Not sure it will be helpful – just me wondering out loud.

You have a lot on your plate but I like that you are trying to build and sustain a positive culture.

I’m sure the folks at Keller will be able to see and appreciate your dedication!

    Good luck.
